I thought the leads were too polished on ...Clarity, other than that the production was outstanding. "Problems" could've been a little heavier, also.

Is Butch Vig producing the new one?

Yes, i saw a picture on myspace of them recording this album and Butch Vig was in it. So it will be a very clean recorded album, but that does not mean it will suck. Im expecting acoustic songs on it since Tom has played some of the songs acoustic live. I think it will be kinda mixed up like SFAFC but who knows... Even prolly being a clean recorded album, It does not mean there will be any less passion and awesomeness in the music. I think this album will kick ass ! cheers

Butch Vig.

I thought SFAFC was great, production wise.
But New Wave slightly disappointing. It didn't stop me from listening to it but still.

I really don't ever pay attention to production quality.
If the songs are good, then that's usually good enough for me.

I do not understand all the Butch Vig hate. He doesn't write the songs, he just helps the band record them. Also I pretty much agree with Kyle. If the song is good, I'll listen.

My dislike for Butch Vig doesn't have anything to do with his producing of New Wave (well a little bit but not even a fourth). I just don't like the man. Never have.

i mean i've never personally met the guy. it's just...i honestly have no idea what it is. he could be an awesome guy. buuuuuut i just don't like him.

I think quality of the recording has a great bearing on a band like AM! For instance, song-wise Axl Rose was the best but with the next album, Eternal Cowboy, the quality of recording was better. I didn't really get into Against Me! until Eternal Cowboy because of that. It is my opinion that certain bands need certain aesthetic qualities to help bring an album togther. It's the same with the Get Up Kids' "Four Minute Mile" compared to "Something to Write Home About". Or Muder By Death's "In Bocca Al Lupo" compared to "Like the Exorcist..." But also other bands need the more gritty sound. Weezer, however, was the exception to all of this mumbo jumbo. But that's only because Pinkerton is the supreme Weezer album.
