okay, since I was featured in punknews.org for my collection, it is also going to be released in AMP (American Music Press) w/ an interview segment by me..

I got a few questions lined up, but PLEASE if you have any suggestions feel free to post them here. Also, PLEASE do not ask the same thing that has been said OVER and OVER again. (signing to sire, selling out.. etc etc)

thanks

Cool. I hope the interview goes well.

I haven't read/seen that many interviews with the band, so pardon if my questions are stale...

(1) What goes into writing the lyrics of the songs? Do you have a process that you stick to, or is it a more chaotic and emotive process of writing? What's your editorial process?

(2) Do you have any specific approach to your music? I mean to say, are you sort of a serious student of music, you know, studying music theory and thinking about different sound elements to throw in to your playing/the songs, or do you just hit the strings until rock comes out? Also, does the band really sort of think out the music as a whole, or do you just jam until you hit on something that sounds cool? What's the general process you go through writing music?

1.) What kind of music do YOU listen to? Was there any band or song lyrics that might have shaped your style of music or way you play?

2.) Who is Against Me! voting for?

Why thank you. I'll go ahead and throw in my third question, which I am certain has been covered, or is at least easy to guess the answer to:

(3) What do you guys think of recording music versus performing music? In as much as they are two different ways to make music, are you definitely more into one or the other? Do you go in to record excited about doing things in a different way and working with the sound in different ways? Or are you all about just being a band that plays music, and all that engineering and production stuff just distracts from just playing music for the people?

As a follow up, what do you think of the album as a medium? Is going into the studio and laying it down on wax sort of a neccessary evil? Or do you guys really have fun making albums, and feel that it helps you go out and play music better? Like, the album brings in people to the shows, the album gets people pumped about the music and singing along, making the album just helps you get the songs into a shape that you feel really good about playing in front of an audience, those are just a couple of examples.

Also, are you going to be recording the interview and sticking it up here? Or someone recording it? That'd be badass, more footage never hurt anybody.

That is so cool and you have to tell us everything! Do you get to meet him, or talk on the phone or email or what?

I can't think of any questions, I'm sure everyone else here will have some good ones.

I'd ask them:
Who's better, Chuck Ragan or Tim Barry?

i'd like some finalized word on that Very Happy

haha i just keep thinking of that radio interview that they walked out on..."so are you gonna play thrash unreal? no. so you guys are sellouts [slams door]"

ask tom how they stay so beastly....AGAINST ME BEAUTY SECRETS

that would be adorable.
and then the interview can say
Tom: [lots of laughing] we're just fierce.

i'm getting carried away
good luck!

Have you started thinking about the next record? What direction it may go in?

Plan on doing a headlining tour? If so who are you considering taking out with you?

I also think the beastly question is a really good question to ask.

I love listening/reading/watching interviews where the last part there is a rapid fire type of round where you ask the most obsurd questions like "decribe yourself as a fancy shade of paint" and "what's for dinner?" So maybe something random and fast would be cool.
