Being new, I'm interested in what everyone does for a living. It could either be your career, or your part-time job at the moment. Worst/Best job you ever had?

I'm in school, currently doing random jobs for the school... just ended a run as a model for a drawing class.
Best job ever: my first job, in a tiny bookstore where no one shopped and I just got to sit in a big armchair all day and read and listen to music. Or my job this summer, but that one is too hard to explain... the job itself sucked but it was a really fun atmosphere and I got to live in a tent, which was really awesome.
Worst job: You know, I've almost enjoyed all of the jobs I've had. Worst job would be a cashier at a supermarket, but I quickly moved my way into the bakery where I got fed all day by an old Italian man that thought I was too skinny.

You could sell your eggs, that's kind of like free money.

I wish, those women make such good money sometimes. But aren't people really picky about who they get eggs from? I've read that women who donate eggs and make a lot of money have to be almost perfect.

I'm going for two jobs with the city right now. My brother is a police officer and found out about some jobs that our local animal shelter needs filled. One is for a receptionist at the shelter, taking care of paperwork and animal adoptions. The other one is for a care worker position, someone who feeds and handles the animals, and assists the doctors with euthanasia of the animals. They both pay the same amount, so I don't really prefer one job over the other, although I think seeing animals being euthanized would take some getting used to.

I know, me too. It would get ridiculous. I wish we had some no-kill shelters in my county, but sadly we have none. I read this article the other day saying that four million pure-bred animals come out of mills each year...while four-five million shelter animals are put to sleep. I hate puppy mills.

so speaking of jobs, i'm thinking of getting a second one. i work at disney world full time (5 days a week, 32-40 hours, more towards the 32 lately because its been slow), but its a 50 mile commute one way(!) for me, so i'm filling up my gas tank every 4 days. i want to get a part time job one or two days a week much closer to home, but making a little better money so that i can save up a little more. any recommendations on places that are $8+/hr, maybe even more, that will hire for 1-2 days a week? i'd go bac k to starbucks part time, but the jerk that was acting-manager when i left didn't like me and put me in as non-rehirable just for that reason. suggestions?

I work for a local newspaper company, The Press Enterprise. It's owned by Belo Corp. so ya, I'm a sellout, I know.. but I pretty much just manage about 6 or 7 part time coordinators that work in the warehouse and manage 60 or 70 contractors who deliver the newspapers. I like my job for the most part but every so often I need to terminate contractors for various reasons and I hate that part.. It's never good to tell people that they don't have a job anymore but thankfully it's not too often. I make 16 bucks an hour salary 40 hours a week, great medical, 401K and paid Holidays and vacation. I bring home more than enough money to pay the bills and fill my vinyl addiction and go to all the shows I really want to go to.. I like my job because it's not the same thing for 8 hours. I get out and drive, I do paperwork, I interact with contractors and I do a bit of physical labor on a daily (nightly) basis so I never really get bored.. The only problem is that newspapers are a dying publication. Our company is struggling and we're constantly shifting our operation and product to stay afloat but in the long run, I know we wont make it. It's fine for now but eventually, I'll have to find a new carear path. The management experience is great for resumes and I know my bosses will have nothing but good things to say about me for references.. I'll be going to school for a business degree within the next one or two years that way I'll find a new career when the newspaper industry dies..

I "work" at a supermarket

By work I mean I show up, drink coffee, put some vegetables up, and do hilarious things all day (light firecrackers off in the store, drink on night shifts, etc)

yesterday was our employee half off everything sale because today is for the public.
but i mean i already get half off shoes clothes fabric towels sheets etc. sooo it was really just half off things like dishes mugs furniture.

So I started a job three weeks ago, since my first day I've thought the owner was a total asshole. He lies to everyone all the time and cheats on his wife. Today I decided to take a look at my paycheck and noticed that the change on my gross pay was 25 cents for exactly 65 hours. I thought "hmmm, how is that when I'm getting paid $7.50 an hour?" So I did the math, and discovered he is paying me 25 cents less an hour than what he told me when I was hired. I'm gonna talk to him tomorrow and if he doesn't pay me the difference (which is only like $20-$30 from the two paychecks I've gotten so far) and increase my pay to what it should be I'm quiting. I've been looking for an excuse to leave anyway. But isn't that some bullshit?!

I work at Planned Parenthood and it rules. I educate about birth control, assist during abortion services, take vitals, take blood, and basically talk to people about their genitalia and sex lives all day. I get to piss off conservatives and protesters while trying to promote a healthy feminist view of sexuality and sexual health. The pay is kind of meh, but hopefully if I get my LPN i'll get a little more.
