True, he will be missed by Germany. The referees at the World Cup, however, will not miss him being inches away from their faces, his own face coloured almost bright purple, flecks of spittle escaping from his mouth and landing on the referee's face and shirt, as he bawls his disagreement at them after they have had the nerve to award a free kick against his side. To reiterate, Michael Bollocks is a twat. True, Boateng's challenge was poor. Whether he meant to hurt Ballack, I don't know. You can only take him at his word and assume he did not, but even if he did, could you blame him? Only moments earlier, remember, Ballack and Boateng had a shouting match that ended with Ballack raising his hands to Boateng. This went unpunished. I assume Ballack felt riled at the fact that Boateng had dared to even show up to oppose him on the pitch.

As you can probably tell by now, I have a barely rational hatred of Michael Ballack.

David Villa is a fantasic signing for Barcelona, but it just illustrates how over rated Zlatan Ibrahimovich is. Barcelona spent a massive amount of money on him, and exchanged Eto'o but he never really delivered, and Villa will surely replace him as first choice. If they sign Fabregas as well, they'll be even more frightening than they are now.

On the home front, Celtic are apparently in for Jimmy Bullard. I'd be delighted to see him go, even on loan. I think he's a liablity now. He obviously doesn't trust his legs and hasn't really contributed anything since his return from injury. He'd be an asset in the Championship, but with our debt problems and his massive weekly wage, I don't think the cost would be justified.

To say Zlatan is overrated is a little harsh. Everyone has slumps, and Ibra suffered one this season. Watching Ibra over the years in Italy shows that he can make a goal out of nothing. David Villa gives extra strength and a lot more speed up front, but Ibra will be a dynamic player when facing teams like Real or anyone in the CL because of his vision and skill.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not basing that assessment purely on this season. I've thought that of him even when he was an Inter player. Undoubtedly he has the talent to be considered a top, top player but I'm not sure he has the application or attitude to back it up. He is a frustrating player to watch because he is capable of top class play, as you say, but too often for me he fails produce, particularly in the biggest games, although he has gone some way to addressing that this season with his goals against Real Madrid in the league and Arsenal in the Champions League. I do think he'll find himself on the bench more often than not next season though. He's not really developed an understanding with Messi, so it remains to be seen how Villa link with him, and whether or not his experience playing with Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and possibly Fabregas will give him an advantage in doing so. I think we can agree, though, that next season they will be very exciting to watch.

I loved the signing of Zlatan last year because it gave us another dimension that we rarely took advantage of this year which is his height up front. I still think he had a decent year, It takes some time to get used to Barca's style. Henry didn't do well his first season there, but then he blew up his second year.

I think we should give him another year. I mean he still had 16 goals or whatever and a bunch of assists.

I wonder what the line up will look like next year now that they have Villa. Will he line up on the left wing with Messi on the the right and Ibra up front? If they get Cesc, who will play the defensive midfield role?

Holy shit.

In our second division (called the First Division), a game between Sparta and Almere City ended in a 12-1 victory for Sparta. Newly bought striker Johan Voskamp scored eight of the twelve goals, breaking just about all the records.

Tonight FC Twente made their debut in the Champions League. First result: 2-2 vs. Internazionale. Not bad.

A couple of stunning goals from last weekend in the Dutch league. De first one is Andreas Lasnik scoring for Willem II against Roda JC (result: 2-2) and the second one is Balazs Toth scoring for VVV against FC Groningen (result: 3-5)

I see people in the comments section are comparing him to Barcelona's other wingers, but he never plays as a winger at PSV.

I really like this signing even though it will be tough for him to crack the first 11. But if the rumors are true we got him for a steal (I hear the transfer fee is around 3 million)

In other news... Almeria 0 x 8 FC Barcelona. Messi and Ronaldo both had hat tricks yesterday. I can't wait for El Clasico next week.
