What bands do you think will be remembered from our generation 10, 20, 50 years from now?
(not bands you love, bands you believe will be remembered, even if it pains you to say so.)
a couple i see being on a "classic rock" station in the not so distant future:

Nickelback (horrid band, but they're doing something "right.")
Green Day
Nirvana

Nirvana is already on classic rocks stations over here. Which make sense, since Cobain died almost 17 years ago. So do they still count as a band of 'our' generation?

As for bands: Muse, Radiohead, maybe blink-182 if the new album will come and does well.

i use "our generation" loosely.

Radiohead for sure.
I know Muse is pretty darn popular, but not where i live... never heard them on the radio. but yeah.
And maybe Blink-182. depends.

Yeah, I think Muse is bigger in Europe than over there.

Do you think Kanye West will be remembered in 20/50 years? He says he's the voice of a generation.

I think people will purely remember him for his actions, not his music.

Probably Lady whatserface, that one who wears meat..? I mean, I love bacon, but I wouldn't wrap my sausage in it.

Also Eminem, Daft Punk, Gorillaz and System of a Down.

I'm not so sure about Nickleback, because yeah they're pretty damn popular and they're good at following trends of music but is that gonna be remembered cuz they're only remembered for their latest song.

I don't know, it's weird for me because it seems that a lot of bands start one way and it's a great way but then they completely turn around.

I mean, there's no (for me anyway) Guns 'N Roses or Kiss to make music that everyone's crazy about and then turn around a shitload of years later and make music no one likes.

I'd say Green Day is the most likely one. Who doesn't know at least a couple of versus to at least a couple of their songs?

The White Stripes
The Raconteurs
Basically Jack White in general.

Tenacious D. I think that is considered our generations Blues Brothers.

Nirvana

Jay Z

Sublime. Even though they are basically a cover band

Nickelback and Creed will be remembered as the worst bands if our generation.

Green Day. Although I'm not sure for which era.

In 150 years, everything will be public domain and our favorite songs will be "standards." Imagine the consequences...

The problem with our generations music is that the popular stuff is pretty terrible. Lady Gaga, Keisha, Fall Out Boy, Nickelback, Black Eyed Peas, Three Days Grace, etc. It's just easily digestable, mass-produced garbage in the end. I think our generation will be known for the death of popular music that also actually requires talent.

I suppose this isn't exactly from our generation, but my point still stands.
