my friend is planning a star wars marathon. I'm probably gonna join him near the end, cause of work, but I have a feeling he's not gonna last.

My friends and I tried to do a Lord of the Rings (extended editions) marathon.

I made it through most of Return of the King. Most.

Sad

Starcraft II is fucking brilliant.

I've got it too but not daring to play it 'til Wednesday after my resits haha.

The LOTR extended marathon is brave. Personally I've never made if past the first ~30 mins of Return of the King when attempting such a marathon. Saying that, after about 7 hours smoking weed I'm lucky to be awake at all never mind watching a film.

I just read they are re-releasing star wars for the 6th time on Blue Ray. Theres supposed to be some additional scenes like Luke building a light saber. Maybe wait for that to come out.

I saw that one on YouTube! It's Darth Vader sitting in that thing trying to talk to Luke and then you get to see how Luke reacts, just ignores it and just gets on with his lightsaber.

so many ppl jizz their pants over star wars. Not me, its cool but i wouldn't get psyched over anything like new scenes or whatever. Its all Lucas trying to squeeze as much money out as possible. Theres tons more stuff out there.

I forgot about Firefly and Farscape,

Firefly is great, especially some of the episodes that did not play.

Warning, you may start calling things shiny after watching it, if your marathon it.

Prepare to say Shiny without even thinking about it.

I have a lot of friends who swear by Portal, which is a fun game especially if you figure out that you can jump before level 8. Super cool is that they finally got steam to work on a Mac if you wanna play on a computer and not a console.

It's also a good game to play and take a break and come back, since it's basically a puzzle game.

Portal is utterly awesome. Best valve game of recent by a long way, including l4d.

Less awesome when you don't know how to jump until the level with the heart companion cube. Then it seems ridiculously hard.

L4d is a good zombie game, but you can't really compare it to Portal. They're pretty much separate categories.

Mind, there's nothing like the ending song getting stuck in your head.

Oh yeah I wouldn't compare them as games, I was just talking about great games made recently by Valve. I love both to bits but they're nothing alike in content really aside from using the same game engine. And the portal credits theme is a beauty in its own right. Science is ace.

I didn't have the jumping problem but then I've played Half Life 2 and Counter Strike Source to death; two more games built on the same engine with virtually identical controls and feel. I think I'm probably just a Valve fanboy to be honest.

Speaking of Half Life 2, they REALLY need to release HL2:Episode 3 or HL3 or whatever is next in the series. Too long without any new content booooooo

I played it on my mac, which is really the only game I've played on a computer... The jump was in an odd place. I just figured there was no jump until suddenly there was.

Wasn't Half Life 2 released on the same game? The orange box, or something like that?

It was out about 4 years before that but they stuck it + the episodes + portal + team fortress 2 all in one handy box: the orange box. Yeah.

Not bad for 30, to be honest!

Can't wait to finish my exam today. I have a battlestar/starcraft evening planned and it's going to be unreal

I think it was Episode 2 that was released with the game, but like Ross said, the full game plus both episodes came with the game. And Team Fortress 2, but that game sucks. Anyways, I really fucking hope they come out with either an Episode 3 or Half Life 3. But there was a huge wait between Half Life and Half Life 2, I just hope they don't do the same for the next installment. Especially considering how quickly they turned out another Left 4 Dead.

Also, Portal kicks so much ass, it's actually quite ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure I'm becoming one, too. Although I've never played CS, or the original Half Life (which I really want to D:).

Left 4 dead 2 was pretty much what the promised would be add-ons for the first one. But has Half Life been a huge seller?

I got to be honest, I've never paid attention to the time between games, I get them late or a new game comes out.

And things like Portal... the extra levels are kicking my ass.

Team Fortress 2 rocks!

Or at least it did. I've not played it since about 6 months after release because my internet was too shit.

(just got Virgin Media 50Mbps so I'm over the fucking moon today)
