PostSubject: Old Video Games   Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:19 pm

So. I found a little store the other day, claimed to be a video game store with "hard to find games". I walk inside, and it's walls of Super Nintendo, Nintendo, Dreamcast, N64, Playstation 1, and a small section for more recent releases for the last gen consoles (PS2, Gamecube, Xbox). Me and my buddy walked in and we were just like, "Wow. Holy shit."

So we spent a bit of time just looking over every shelf, constantly pulling out games and going, "HEY, I REMEMBER THIS GAME. This game was AWESOME. I played this all the time when I was younger!". And yeah, they did have some pretty hard to find games (Castlevania X, Metal Gear Solid for PSone), and they even offered my friend around $100 for his copy of Chrono Trigger for Super Nintendo (he isn't going to part with it though). It was just really neat looking back at some old games and stuff that I used to play as a kid.

The store even has quite a few of these certain consoles in stock. They have two slots, one for the older Nintendo, and one for the Super, so you can slap two cartridges in it, and just flip the switch when you want to play Nintendo or Super. The games were actually fairly cheap (the common ones, not the rare ones), and depending on the price of the console, I might have to go make a few purchases and spend some time replaying some fucking awesome old school games.

ITT: Your favorite older video games. NO RECENT OR CURRENT GEN GAMES (THAT MEANS NO PS2, XBOX, XBOX360, PS3, GAMECUBE, OR WII).

I only had the original nintendo and then sega saturn as a kid.. I loved sonic, a lot. My roommate brought up her old PS1 this semester and we totally kicked lego island 2's butt... it was a lot of fun.

I remember one time I was playing Super Metroid and I was at the end where you kill the Mother Brain thing and then you have to get out before it blows. I was hyperventilating and way into it, so my friend was all wrapping blankets around me. I got way too into my video games.

Toejam and Earl. That game rules! And is probably my favorite game of all time .... we used to laugh so hard at the aliens being chased by the hamster in the rolly-ball and other assorted "earth" creatures.

Please, somebody tell me they remember Toejam and Earl!!!

Watching the video reminded me of the hula lady - if you got too close to her you had to stop progress and dance a little... hee hee what total sillyness.

We still say "money" like they do, whenever we get "a buck"
