| All is quiet, except for this song. So maybe while I'm not together I can feel like I'm not alone. And somewhere off in the distance, rapidly advancing, is an onslaught of sorts. Young sirens wail in a skewed sense of glory. And the lions in the cages roar at the memory of fight.
And there's a joy, a joy in all I can see. A joy, in every possibility.
And all around us is a great, great failing. American rockets red-glare in a most disgusting triumph. And in passing I am asked "Do you believe in a God?", I shrug off the answer, continue to get high. in this terror of no explanation. I am looking for a faith. My panic is an only reason.
There's a joy, a joy in all I can see. A joy, in every possibility.I love this song intensely. They put it right after "How Low" - brilliant. This song is full of images, doubt, but a sense of joy ultimately triumphs. I love the image of the sirens and the lions. This is songwriting at it's very best. Simple, deep. And how James' guitar comes in with the lyrics about the sirens. Wow. _________________ "America is just a word but I use it."

| My favourite off SFAFC, and one of my top 5 AM! songs easily. I only recently picked up on it, and it's just... Oh so good. Can't really add anything to what you say it's about, since I agree in full. _________________ The sun's always rising in the sky somewhere...| noni wrote: | | morals are for people who aren't hot enough to get any. |

I've heard Tom say both "fight" and "flight" on different recordings. I've also seen it on lyric sites as both. I know "fight"makes more sense, but is it the right lyric? |

| I always assumed it was fight, because to me it does make more sense. The lyrics on their website have it written as "flight," though. |

| Indeed, it's very very dark. I find myself sitting and contemplating all kinds of scary things in my future when I'm listening to it, but it kinda reminds me to find happiness among them. Very powerful track. _________________ The sun's always rising in the sky somewhere...| noni wrote: | | morals are for people who aren't hot enough to get any. |

| I wouldn't say the track is dark because there is joy, admist all the chaos and uncertainty, the terror and panic of no explanation, that is why there is joy. You need one extreme to create the other. And I would say it's "fight" since he roars and is proud. Just my opinion tho. Which version do you prefer - demo version of album version? I prefer the album one with the awesome intro. _________________ "America is just a word but I use it."

| I'd agree, the album version is better, naturally. It's the way it's meant to be. Indeed there is light in it, but for the most part I find it a very dark song... But with light poking through the cracks, for want of an analogy. At least that's how I see it. _________________ The sun's always rising in the sky somewhere...| noni wrote: | | morals are for people who aren't hot enough to get any. |

| I find this one picks me up, it almost teaches you to look for the good in things, just fuck the rest and enjoy the good things. Thats what I take from it anyways. _________________ I can envision, your perfect nation, your plan to sedate intelectual pacification.

| When I listen to the song it sounds like "flight", but fight makes alot more sense. |

| " My panic is an only reason. There's a joy, a joy in all I can see." Definately forces you to see the good in it all and it is symbolic to have that kind of numbing sound before the simple acoustic riff starts. From the monotone there is music. _________________ "America is just a word but I use it."

| two definitions of flight: 9. swift movement, transition, or progression: the flight of time. 10. a soaring above or transcending ordinary bounds: a flight of fancy. _________________ Jump up, Live, Love Longer

| I stand corrected as well - but you know what? I'll still sing it "fight" ;-) I also sometimes change: I shrug off the answer, continue to get high.for Unsure of the answerWhatever - it makes me happy ;-) _________________ "America is just a word but I use it."
