| I'm about done with this book by Richard Halliburton called "The Royal Road To Romance", it's the adventures of the author when he decided one day to go around the world one day after he graduated from university. It's really great, and since it was written around 1915, the passages about Tibet and Afghanistan are even more amusing since that's all that's in the bloody news about a hundred years later. He's supposedly written about a thousand books like this one, I may try to track more down. I'm not sure what to read next. I've got a couple of books that are candidates, but I'm not sure. Goethe's "Italian Journey" sounds good. I'm also desperate to get into Michel de Montaigne's "Essays". I found a really nice new edition that has all of them, plus de Montaigne's letters and some other odds and ends, basically every word the man wrote. | I'm bouncing between two books, "The sun also rises", which I've tryed to read ona few occasions but always get caught up doning something that take up weeks of time. I'm also reading James Joyce's "the dubliner." I borrowed the copy from ym friend and it's introduction was solely based on Joyce's problems getting his book published, very interesting stuff. I also just finished rereading "Shogun" by James Clavel, and "the strawberry" statement by James Simon Kuene. It basicly his notes from the spring of 1968-the end of summer, that detail his involvement in the campus take over at Columbia university and the summer following it. Thats a rather good novel, very smart, very cynicaly funny. It's interesting to watch the man's veiws change as he's exposed to the realities of police brutality and injustice of all kinds. If you can find a copy of this I highly recomend it. On a minor note, I aparently have been reading a lot of books by fellows named james. |

| I'm reading Confessions of An Economic Hitman. It takes me a while to finish books between school and work, and this one is from the library so I gotta get going. It's sad though, it's about guys who go to underdeveloped countries and get them to accept loans from the US, the countries are so in debt that they basically have to do anything the US pressures them to do. It describes the effects it has on those countries, and interesting stuff like that. I'm also reading two Stephen King books on the side. |

| I just finished The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I've read it like a thousand times, but it's one of my absolute favorite books, and it's one of those where every time you read it you notice something new. I just finished As I Lay Dying for English too... Crappy band, but excellent read if you like Faulkner. |

I could never get into The Fountainhead, it's too....Ayn Rand. Have you ever read Anthem, though? It's really good.
If you are interested, you should read "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists" by Robert Tressell. It's the exact opposite of The Fountainhead, you may enjoy it just because it is basically an argument for the "other side". I'm going to give "The Fountainhead" another chance, I assure you. _________________ "Would Hamlet have felt the delicious fascination of suicide if he hadn't had an audience, and lines to speak?" ~ Jean Genet

The Stand (I've been reading this on and off for about 6 months) I've already read it, I just randomly read it again lots of times. I'm also reading Misery, which I've never read. I might start Cujo too, I love horror anything basically. |

Have you ever read any H.P. Lovecraft? His short stories are fantastic.
My favourite's are "Pickman's Model", "The Whisperer in the Darkness", and "The Call of Cthulhu". But they're all good. _________________ "Would Hamlet have felt the delicious fascination of suicide if he hadn't had an audience, and lines to speak?" ~ Jean Genet
