There was this kid in my school who is Muslim, and was dating an atheist. He cheated on her many a time, while they were together. Anyways, it turns out at one point she cheated on him, not too long before the final exams happened.

So, at prom, I don't know if he had just found out about it, or what, but he was extremely pissed about it, and was basically on this whole anti-atheist rant. I sat down at one point in the middle of his rant, and he was saying that all a guy has is two things. I forget what the first was, but the second was faith. So, he randomly asked me if I had faith, to which I replied that I didn't. He kind of freaked out, and was talking about how we can't have a moral compass if we don't have faith.

Was he not a psychopath, I would have freaked out on him. But I was afraid of getting stabbed (he pulled out a knife on one of my friends, at one point, because he was getting 'too close' with his girlfriend). Anyways, I told him that I don't eat meat because of my morals, so he can't tell me that lack of faith makes me immoral. He disagreed. I left it at that.

Anyways, that was slightly off topic, and probably could have gone in the Religion thread, but I figured it fit what you guys were talking about not needing it as a moral compass.

I agree entirely. In my experience Ive noticed that alot of people claim to be christians just to have something to believe in at the end of the day.
And who can blame them for that honestly, everyone wants SOMETHING to believe in.
I agree that sometimes people take their "faith" to the next level or too far when they start pushing it on other people or get pissed off at you if you dont really believe exctly what they do...
which in a way exactly what alot of people that ARENT christians do. Anywho, I think its silly to pay ridiculous amounts of money just so you can say you believe a certain way or worship or whatever you want to call it... like meditation for example.
