| I'm completely shocked by this. They gave it to him based on his goals, really, rather than anything he's done. Which makes me think of the purpose of the Peace Prize. They couldn't have given it to him for what he's achieved because there's a huge list of people who's efforts have led to more results. Instead, it looks like they're giving it to Obama in order to lend legitimacy to his words about world cooperation and to try to push the new direction of America and the world as a whole further in a peaceful direction. To me its like saying "listen to Obama, here" rather than acknowledging any one group or country's particular struggles. I don't know if I agree with giving the award like this. Obama said, "I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century," and "I am both surprised and deeply humbled by the decision of the Nobel Committee." Thoughts? _________________ You're teaching your kids to repeat what you did growing up as a dickhead yourself.

| I'm fucking pissed. I cannot express this enough. The last two choices they made have made me think so much less of the nobel group as a whole. When they start choosing politicians it just makes the thing bullshit. Especially when all that politician has done is amp up a war effort in one country, and hasn't made that big of a difference in the other war. He has no accomplishments under his belt. He has done nothing for energy policy that he said he would. He has done very little to get out of Iraq like he said he would. He hasn't closed guantonamo. He has done very little he promised. I'm fucking pissed. This choice belittles the accomplishments of all the past recipients they have made. |

| one, actual, tangible thing he's done so far is put off that east European missile shield. other then that... meh. I think even Obama is like "wtf i haven't done anything" I think its just a bunch of naive people who are still high off the election win, which the rest of the world got over like 6 months ago. if anything it just puts more pressure on him _________________ nigga what the fuck is juice? i want some grape drink baby... its purple

| The Nobel Peace Prize is slightly different from the other Nobel Prizes. It is not only awarded for completeaccomplishments but to individuals who are currently resolving conflict or promoting peace. President Obama falls into the second category. That is why the committee chose to award him with the prize. |

| That's dumb though. If he were to have accomplished a shit load while he was president, then ya 10 years from now give him the nobel peace prize. But don't give it to him before he ever did anything. |

How hard can it be to win the nobel peace prize now! I believe your intentions are right, you should win. |

| I like Obama and everything... But this is kind of silly. Of course compared to our last president he's like Ghandi or something, but that doesn't change the fact that he's only been in office for ten months, and while he has done some things to improve our foreign policy he's still escalating the war in Afghanistan, among other things. That said, Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize so its not like it means shit anyway. |

I found that out recently too. Although we can all say "I'll promote peace too, now just give me one cause I said it!". President Obama has made progress towards something. I do think it's silly too, but I think it could be worse. _________________ And Maybe we'll never see our efforts indicated maybe we'll never amount to anything We're not looking back, we're not making compromises We are willing to dare, we are willing to believe

| You'd think if they were gonna give it to a mainstream figure, which they apparently were going to regardless of achievements, they would've given it to Sarkozy for helping to sort out that shitstorm in Georgia (well, for the time being anyway). _________________ You're teaching your kids to repeat what you did growing up as a dickhead yourself.

Que?
Seriously, I'm curious as to see where his discussions with Israeli and Palestinian leaders go. I think this award was premature but I'm hoping he can help the Middle East find peace without dropping excessive bombs on them. |

| i'm happy he's working towrds peace between Israel and Palestine, but I find this laughable because of his policy towards afghanistan. some of the things he said about killing bin laden during the presidental debates were just ruthless (and republican-sounding). _________________ I could build a sand castle without bringin' a pale, and go cat fish fishin' and come up with a whale. but-but you know what? that was easy as hell! well, maybe not the line about me catchin' a whale, but if i did it, then it's nothin', then I did it as well. probably easy as it is to move slow for a snail. |
