| has anyone heard what Obama gave NASA in his new budget? $1 billion dollars. Now that may sound like a lot of money to the average person here, but in the grand scheme of things it's nothing. He just announced a trillion dollars in new spending and in all of that he's only giving NASA an extra $1billion. Honestly it drives me insane. America has long been declining in the area's of science, and I feel that this just goes to show how they feel about space exploration. Almost none of that new money was set aside for manned spaceflight. As America is going through a tough economic time I think that one thing that would help a lot would be the creation of high tech jobs, and space exploration is the perfect way to get there. Ok I'm going to end my rant here for now, anyone else have any opinions? Or am I the only one who cares haha. |

| Penn and Teller had an interesting episode of "Bullshit" about NASA. not that everything they say is true, but it that episode made some good points. |

| yeah, I think we've explored about %3 of the sea. theres more to gain from exploring the ocean like natural resources. lets face it theres wayyy cooler stuff in the ocean then in space like colossal squids and weird ass plants. |

| They only really cared about space when they had the competition of the Soviet Union. Personally, I'd rather explore space than the ocean, but I do agree that we should maybe focus a bit on our own planet before moving on, outside of it, more. _________________ I am a leader, but you will not follow me I ain't no preacher for I'm full of blasphemy - See you in hell, boys.

| well why not both. what i'm getting at is more money needs to be spent on sciences, and less on building for the sake of building. I'm thinking if we have secure high tech jobs then the money will get passed through the system, creating even more jobs, in the same way that spending on infrastructure would, only these would be jobs that would advance society and our knowledge, instead of just having more roads. I named nasa in particular because i am a huge fan of space, and i think we've become complacant. Our forefathers would be ashamed if they knew that we had the technology to colinize the moon and didn't do it. Humans have always prospered through exploration, whether it be leaving africa for europe, or leaving europe for the america's, we've always been pushing the edge. And now we're backing off. It bugs me a bit. |

| NASA...I don't really care for Space exploration, they can have $1 billion, that's plenty. But, I will say NASA has started to expand from more than just space, so that's kind of cool. They do all sorts of science related stuff. _________________ And Maybe we'll never see our efforts indicated maybe we'll never amount to anything We're not looking back, we're not making compromises We are willing to dare, we are willing to believe

| I really think that science in general could use a boost in funding. It should really be one of the most important things to our society, whether it's regarding climate change, space exploration, physics, chemistry or biology (ie. health, medicine, etc). In my humble opinion, anyways. _________________ I am a leader, but you will not follow me I ain't no preacher for I'm full of blasphemy - See you in hell, boys.

i agree with this we can barely keep up 4 space shuttles 2 have already failed and killed people, i highly doubt back in the 70's or whenever we went to the moon that they had better construction to take the stresses of space. _________________ _and I can't tell if you're laughing between each smile there's a tear in your eye there's a train leaving town in an hour it's not waiting for you, and neither am I_
