Aren't the majority of immigrants coming in Eastern European rather than Middle eastern or... Abdul and Mohamed as you so eloquently put? I'm not asking to be a fucker or anything, just curious, as that's what I was told when I went to Ireland, and I know that's not England, but they should suffer from the same things and whatnot on things controlled by the EU.

But that's beside the point. I honestly don't believe that all problems of ANY country, can be solved by locking the boarders down, what gives you the right to say these people shouldn't be allowed? Now, I'll say I'm no fan of an open door policy in any country, but my stance has always been that people don't come to mooch off a country, unless they're fully allowed to mooch off a country, so wouldn't welfare reform almost solve the problem of over immigration? I know that it sort of works here, most immigrants that I've had interaction with (primarily Mexican migrant workers or illegal aliens) don't come here seeking free money, hell, I've seen them sleeping in forests like primitives, waking up at sunrise to go stand at a gas station, praying they can find a job.

I'm not sure what we're complaining about here then.

If it's tightening our borders against the untold mass of philandering no good foreigners, the UK Borders Agency has already made changes over recent years, including the introduction of a system similar to the much loved Australian points based system - how well that'll work we're yet to see in anything more than short term. I saw an article claiming that immigration lawyers and businessmen are asking for the UK points system to be reformed again since it's slow as fuck (amongst other problems), but it may not have been a reputable source and I can't think for the life of me where I saw it.

I think some of this applies to what whatawaster has had to say. But I'd also like to add that his point that this money comes out of his pocket is bullshit. If, as he says, he's worked since he was 16 he should know that paying taxes is not a choice. Once you've paid your taxes you have very little say on how that money is spent. You want to have a say on it, tkae it up with your MP, get involved in the political process, don't cop out and blame it on 'foreign wasters' who are perfectly entitled to claim benefits or whatever once they've been allowed to settle here! Tell me that in their situation, you wouldn't do exactly the same? They're not coming here because life in their homelands is fucking peachy are they? You make it sound like it's a cynical plot by immigrants to come to the UK and sponge. I don't think that the nation you were born in should dictate the quality of your life that you are entitled to.

As I understand it (and Europeans/UKians please correct me) all of the EU has work restrictions except for Ireland, thus Ireland (which is part of the UK, right?) is awash with immigrants.

I have read (in the BBC) about anti-Polish tendencies because of all the Polish flooding into the area. But come on.....if they want to work!


In Canada, people complain a lot about immigrants and multi-culturalism. However, I find that a lot of business owners are actually immigrants. And the hardest working people in the whole country are immigrants. What does that say about native Canadians? Maybe xenophobia exists because immigration only exposes the sloth and apathy present in our culture.

Though I do think that adaptation and integration is important. When I see young Arab girls walking around the mall in traditional head gear AND those super-tight vagina jeans I have to wonder why they even bother with the head gear at that point. There is no modesty in cameltoe. None.



NOTE: I am an immigrant (from the US) and my work ethic is much better than every Canadian's work ethic. I get along better with European/Chinese/Asian people than I do with white Canadians on the whole. My wife is a Polish immigrant to Canada. So my opinions may be biased in the favour of immigrants.

Scapegoating immigrants is so damn easy. I wish the extremists and their following would pick a more interesting target, like left handed people or something like that. It'd make the press work a bit harder for their money trying to make such a ridiculous anti-left theory plausible (although no less ridiculous than anti-immigration theories).

I've read in history class the the British isles used to be populated with a completely different set of people, and that the people that live there now are actually the descendants of the French (or Gauls or whatever the hell they used to be called).

The point being that it's happened before, and it will happen again. And come on, it's not like the old society built London or anything. Maybe the new society of British Poles (Prits? Politains?) will create something even more grand. Just go with it, man.

Oh yeah, the true brits are all ginger, or so I read. But we (and the rest of Europe) have all shagged everyone else in Europe for a looooong time now so yeah, we're pretty mixed racially I think...

Meanwhile, North Americans are all fat pink lumps of crap. I guess boning anyone and everyone in sight only works if you aren't inherently xenophobic.
